The sting, however, is that the rest of society doesn’t look at you and say, “Thank you for sacrificing part of your finite life working up the money to shield me from the consequences of my idiotic mistakes.” They typically look at you as an “evil rich fat cat” who “didn’t earn what he has” and “owes it to the rest of society” to “pay their fair share.”
