If the movement is not perfect, I try praising them. I tell them that what they did was good, then ask them to repeat it—only this time with their hand turned slightly (for example). This kind of repetition is easy for most people to do. Because they just did it well and it wasn’t painful, they are empowered to do it again, even though it’s completely staged the second time around.
