As with my axioms for God, this prayer axiom isn’t an attempt to prove Christian orthodoxy. It’s a life raft for people who can’t get on board with the supernatural claims about God yet still want to be close to God—a state I’m often in. That’s why the words at least are so critical. I’m not boxing anything in. I’m just stating what I can comfortably support empirically. The fact is, I’ve had many overwhelming, beautiful moments in prayer that I can’t explain with empirical evidence.
