Marrow: A Love Story

The world needs your originality, your ideas, your humor, your creations. All of this is alive and well within you, hiding somewhere near you, beneath the layers, down, down, down, into the soul.

The Jungian scholar James Hollis writes, “We are not here to fit in, be well balanced, or provide exempla for others. We are here to be eccentric, different, perhaps strange, perhaps merely to add our small piece, our little clunky, chunky selves, to the great mosaic of being.

I think it’s pretty stupid sometimes to try to control life. And pretty smart to let things go. To surrender. And the smartest people, the wisest people, know when to hold on, and when to let go.

We are made from the past, and for the future. Both are embedded in the present moment. Without the pain and sweetness of what came before, and the enticing lure and heart-pounding fear of what comes next, we cannot celebrate the fullness of the living moment.

‘They don’t need you to perform for them so they know how good you are. They need you to love them so they know how good they are.’
