Trouble intensified on the VSNL issue when, two months after the sell off, the Tatas used ₹1,200 crore, of the reserves of VSNL to buy into Tata Teleservices Limited (TTL). The knives were out and within the party too Communication Minister Pramod Mahajan got into a conflict with Arun Shourie, the man who had overseen the sale of VSNL.
