Speaking of which, it’s worth taking a moment to note that so many of these early post-rock bands – Bark Psychosis, Slint, Disco Inferno, Engine Kid – all seemed to thrive on the erratic, exploratory energy of puberty. They were predominantly teenagers at the time, and the music captures this reaction between the onset of social anxiety, and the fiery, newfound desire to project opinions or vent volatile, emotional responses.
