I neglect the religion aspect.

I yawn and lean against Josie, huddled near the fire as she tells us one horrible Christmas story after another. Apparently she had a terrible childhood and likes to regale us with tales of how awful it was.
“I am your mate. I should be at your side at all times, especially when you are hurting.”
“I think if we ended up resonating, it’d be the end of the world or something.”
“I heard you resonate. Both of you. I was close enough to hear it, and saw your faces.” For a moment, he looks bitterly sad, and then quickly masks it again.
