By passing entirely beyond the Sphere of No-Thingness, one reaches and remains in the Sphere of Neither-Perception-Nor-Non-Perception. (DN 33.1.11.7) There is not much in the way of instructions or even description of the sphere of neither perception nor nonperception. “Perception” is a translation of the Pali word saññā. Saññā often refers to your capacity to label things, to identify them, to look them up in your database of objects and give them a name.
