Another frequently repeated story had it that Lynch kept a preserved uterus on his desk. This turned out to have been a gift from Raffaella De Laurentiis, who had a hysterectomy and thought Lynch would appreciate the souvenir. (He was still answering questions about the uterus nearly twenty years later: “It was never on my desk,” he said in 2007, “it’s somewhere in the house.”)
