Only Sweden has operated a systematically high carbon price for a long period. Since 1990, Sweden has had a comprehensive carbon tax across all energy sectors of approximately 100 USD per ton of CO2. This tax has resulted in a decoupling of the Swedish economy, allowing continued economic growth while reducing national CO2 emissions from industry.
