I’m not sure if every e-reader has this facility, but with a Kindle you can keep notes by highlighting text or just one word through placing your finger on the screen and tapping the word 'note', when a box appears. At the end of the book you can then use the top drop down tools bar and tap 'notes' and all your notes will show on a page telling you the notes and the locations.
