The pungent greens typically accompanied a meal, made palatable by sweet fruits or roasted nuts. But when eaten alone, their bitterness couldn’t be diminished, ignored, or masked.
Yahweh wasn’t toying with Pharaoh as Miriam had imagined. He was offering him a viable way out.
