The insurgency doesn’t ask us to smash our digital devices. Instead, it helps us to keep them in perspective and invites us to question our assumptions about progress.
The typewriter doesn’t push “content” at them; it draws words from them.
But the difficulty of changing a typescript can also have what seems to be the opposite effect: You let go. You stop caring about certainty; you stop editing yourself, stop second-guessing yourself, and simply write—mistakes and all.
