What folks don’t realize, I think, is that very often “good” just means “competent.”
As fantasists, as fiction writers, we sell fantasy. I get that. But fantasy is not bodies. It’s stories. What we sell does not have to be in service to a narrative of objectification.
All you have to decide, as they say, is what you do with the time given.
This is why I write. This is why I keep speaking. This is why I endure. Because if I don’t tell my stories, someone else will.
Life is a series of unrelated incidents. It is the human mind that seeks to string them together into narratives, into story.
