University of Washington neuroscientist Patricia Kuhl’s studies make it clear that infants need adults in their lives to learn language effectively. Though weary parents may sometimes wish they could buy a video that has the same effect as engaging one-on-one with their child, it turns out there is no substitute for parents interacting with their infants and young children.
