Hegel believed that “Reason” is the best method of finding out the truth. But getting there was a complicated process. When you employ reason to investigate the world and its human inhabitants, you frequently end up with conclusions that seem utterly opposed. THIS ANNOYING FACT OF REASON PRODUCING CONTRADICTIONS IS A GOOD THING, BECAUSE THEN YOU ARE FORCED TO MEDIATE BETWEEN THE TWO AND SO ARRIVE AT A SUPERIOR “SYNTHESIS” OF BOTH.
