Perhaps in a future decade, machine learning will be dominated by deep analogy, combining in one algorithm the efficiency of nearest-neighbor, the mathematical sophistication of support vector machines, and the power and flexibility of analogical reasoning. (There, I just gave away one of my secret research projects.)
