While breast cancer is the most common internal cancer among American women, lung cancer is actually their number-one killer. About 85 percent of women with breast cancer are still alive five years after diagnosis, but the numbers are reversed when it comes to lung cancer: 85 percent of women die within five years of a lung cancer diagnosis.
