“It’s not so much that I can’t find my prince, as that I’m no princess.”
If I want to see what’s going on beneath Sofie’s surface, I have to show her what goes on beneath mine.
“It’s figuring out what burns inside of you, and then letting it guide you.” My eyes probe her face. “What guides you, Sofie? What’s your fire?”
It’s obvious that she’s a daddy’s girl to a daddy who doesn’t care enough. If I didn’t have reason to dislike Ernest Baston before, I have it now.
I’ve decided I’m just going to let this happen. Let him set the pace. He knows I’m ready when he is.
I want him fiercely. Not the handsome face, or the tower of muscle and bone. I want his secrets. I want his dreams. I want his hopes. I want everything I’ve never cared about with anyone else.
