We know that Christ is not distorted but people’s perceptions certainly can be. “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely” (1 Cor 13:12). If we can only, at best, see “puzzling reflections,” then perhaps we can never totally escape distortion. I am suggesting in light of the arguable definitions of “what is and what isn’t” syncretism, that mixing is a normative process of positive change
