Houdini had difficulty with emotional processing. Houdini remained so deeply attached to his mother that when she died at a ripe old age, he was nearly incapacitated by grief. His brain’s organization may have invested so heavily in Perceiving that it left other areas somewhat isolated and under-connected. It’s a common pattern with people who appear gifted in multiple areas; the brain can’t be super-connected in all areas, so unusual gifting in one area means a loss in another.
