As an older man, carrying the priest title of “Father” besides, I find that I am often carrying people's “daddy” projections, both for good and for ill. It is a double-edged sword, because I can be used to heal them very easily, and I can be allowed to hurt them very easily. But in a certain real sense, it is not about me at all but about me as their mirror, reflection, and projection.
