In fact, the Psalms revealed to me that worship had very little to do with emotion and everything to do with God’s faithfulness. In Psalm 103, David had to command his soul to praise God, “Praise the LORD, my soul” (v. 1). In Psalm 34, David wrote, “I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips” (v. 1). Worshipping God was an act of David’s will, not his emotions.
