THE CALL THAT CHANGED MY LIFE HAPPENED AROUND noon in February 2006.
God had taken me out of my self-centered life and dropped me in the middle of nowhere so I could get alone with him. I started to see him differently than I had before.
Our desire is for God to fix broken things. But God’s desire for us is to fix our relationship with him.
Nowhere in Scripture does God say that if we’re good, then he’ll be good to us. In fact, the Bible says the opposite. It says we’re not good, yet he is good to us. The more I studied Scripture, the more I learned that I was not as good as I thought I was. On my very best days, I was maybe 66 percent good.

The righteousness scale in the Bible says that no one but Jesus makes it to the top. But despite our lack of goodness, God is always good and is always good to us.
Fortunately, God is faithful to us even when we are disobedient to him.
Until I learned, it wasn’t about me.
