depressed and shut down: he cries out, “O wretched man that I am!” But you can see that in the course of the chapter, he starts to get an inkling of what’s going on. It’s almost as though he says, Wait a minute—“Awake my soul! No longer droop in sin. Rejoice, O my heart, and give place no more for the enemy of my soul” (2 Ne 4:28).
