“A date?” I ask, unsure what he’s implying. “I don’t date either.” “Well, I don’t fuck, as you put it so charmingly,” I counter, not getting where he’s heading. He holds my stare before a broad smile crosses his face. “Are you sure, Bell? In my dreams, you fuck real good.”
The kiss starts out slow, gentle with my uncertainty, her body frigid with her unease. When her hands move to my shoulders, I know she’s not going to push me away. My tongue skirts out, craving to taste her. She opens, slightly awkward in her movements, so I take charge of the kiss and own her fucking mouth. “Open,” I order, my lips still pressed to hers. She obeys, opening and allowing my tongue the entrance it’s searching for.
“Ten minutes, Kadence, or we’re gonna be late,” Nix yells from the bottom of the stairs. “I don’t know much about dating, since I’m only a kid, but I don’t think you should do that,” Z says and I’m gonna have to agree with him. “Yeah, I’m with you there, bud.” I fist bump Z. The kid is switched on, he’s gonna be a ladies man by the time I’m finished teaching him.
“Jesus, Joseph, and doggy-style Mary.” I whistle, giving Nix some time to get his head on straight. “Jesse!” Kadence scolds, turning to me. “What? I was just giving Nix some words. He looks lost.”
“On a scale of one to ten, how pissed is he?” I take her hand and let her help me up. “Jesse, I can’t even count that high. But it’s okay, because we love you. And you’re going to fix this.”
This is a battle; this is a war of the hearts. Call me selfish, an asshole, a fucking prick… whatever, but Bell is going to experience firsthand what it looks and feels like to have a man fight for her. She might not believe it now, and she has every right not to, but I am going to get her back. Time was all I had. She will see.
