“I leave you alone for a few hours, and you let Thumper fry and eat an Alpha.” Yelping, I spun around as Stacey screamed. Cayman stood in the center of the destroyed living room.
I raised my hand, cutting him off. “Shush it. Cayman, is he in trouble?” Cayman grinned. “I think the better question is—when is he not in trouble?” Narrowing my eyes, I had to admit that was a good point. “Okay. Is he in more trouble than he normally is?” “Ah...” His gaze shifted toward Roth, and then his grin spread into a devilish smile. He was thoroughly enjoying himself.
“There’s always time for naughtiness, Shortie.” “I’m not surprised that you believe this.” He shot me a look. “When have any of my beliefs been wrong?” I arched a brow. “Many, many times.” “I think you have a distorted memory,” he returned,
“So why do you think the demon ran?” “You smell like me.” “Uh... Come again?”
“I don’t think you understand what it means when a demon falls in love, Layla. It doesn’t go away. It doesn’t fade, even if we want it to. We love until death. That’s not just something we say. We love and we love once and it’s forever. No matter what. And that’s a bit twisted if you think about it, but luckily you feel the same way, so this isn’t awkward. You feel me?”
“Don’t mind me,” Cayman said. “I’m not here. Nope. I’m not the awkward third party, having to witness you two eat each other’s face.” Lifting his head, Roth cast a dark look in Cayman’s direction while I just sat there, enjoying the aftereffects of the kiss. “You know, you could’ve simply left.” “Don’t bring logic into this conversation,” he said,
