Why does such language even exist in reflecting on God’s relation to creation
The Bible speaks only of foreknowing people, not events as in a philosophical foreknkwledge. Knowledge of the futue as a category in discussing omniscience is perfectly acceptable. Calvinists just have a grounding for it.
