Good sex is fruitful in that it points us toward kingdom work. The good of fruitfulness means that sex is for others.

They’re simple things, really, and some of them were better than others: rules against closed doors, single-gender dorms, social expectations about how long dating couples would wait for sex.

Pointedly, Augustine accuses men who want sex without commitment, responsibility, and the possibility of children of turning women into whores.

Part of what we do when we marry is to stand up before our friends, family, and church and say, “see this man? (or see this woman?) — I’m having sex with him tonight.”
