Barry flushed and finished the verse angrily, “‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.’ It’s John 10:10.” He regained his composure and went on, “Well the ‘thief’ sure came close to stealing everything Jesus has done for us, killing our faith, and destroying our trust—Jesus would never ask us to do something that’s impossible for us.”
