Was it just her, or did lovers look more adoringly at each other in this city? Especially in the springtime. Die, bastards. She sighed. It wasn’t their fault that they were bastards who should die.
“I’m immortal, too, usually, but if I get in a wreck and get knocked out till morning, that sun allergy card my aunts make me cart around won’t do jack. Okay?” “I understood fifty percent of that,” he observed calmly.
Because you’ve been out of my bed for far too long.
“How inconsiderate not to wake me when we are entertaining.”
“Hey, there are your hands—let me play right into them.”
“Trifling,” Myst had interjected in a casual tone. “We eat electricity.”
Nïx sighed. “The Saints aren’t going to make it to the playoffs.”
“Emma, let me help you.” Her head whipped up. He stood in the doorway. “You should buy stock in a lock company! I said alone!” He nodded in agreement. “Aye, you usually say that, and I still stay. It’s our way.”
“Every night you’ve got me like a randy lad.”
Emma turned to him, bottom lip trembling. “For me?” Always for you. All things for you. He coughed into his fist. “All your own.”
He’d been concerned about that and had asked her if she could content herself by “buying goods via the computer.” She’d batted her eyelashes up at him and answered, “I’ll endeavor for you.”
“By the way, do you know what ‘heroin chic’ is? She said I should be aware that it’s so last year.”
When he watched her sleeping, he often thought, My heart lies vulnerable outside my chest.
“I wonder what I plan.” “Tell us!” Nïx cried breathlessly.
“How . . . romantic.”
“Because that’s my queen, and I’ll die for her.”
All of them were insane but for Emma.
“Look at my resume!” Tears welled. “I look good on paper!”
