In Wicca, there is both a God/Lord and a Goddess/Lady. Both a masculine and a feminine which work with balance throughout the Universe. Balance being the key word, not competition. Sex is the single-most symbolic act of this harmony between the masculine and feminine powers and that is why it takes on an important role. The Great Rite is a ritual that celebrates the meeting of these powers.
