You can see this illustrated in the wilderness temptation of Jesus, when Satan stood behind Jesus and told him to jump off the temple (Matthew 4:5–6). Why would the devil tell Jesus to jump? Because he couldn’t push him! I guarantee that if he could have, he would have. But he could only whisper in Jesus’ ear, not make him do it. So it is when Satan comes your way with his bag of tricks. He doesn’t want you to know this, but he can’t make you do anything. You always have a choice. In that way, you are more dangerous to yourself than the devil is.
