“Do you want me to kill him?”
Suddenly Matteo was there. He gripped the tall guy in a headlock and held a sharp long knife to the guy’s crotch. “Or,” he said in an eerily calm voice. “We could try to find out how long it takes for you to bleed out like a pig after I cut your dick off. How about that?”
If a normal guy tells you he’d kill and torture to protect you, he’d be lying, exaggerating at best, but I’m making a promise I can keep.”
any honor.”
“You’re never in the mood,” Sid grumbled. “Jerk me off at least.” Anger shot through me at his demand. When I didn’t react, he grabbed my hand and pressed it against the bulge in his pants. Where was the peace-loving idealist now? With a bang, the door flew open. Before either Sid or I could move, three men stalked in. Matteo was one of them. Oh holy shit.
I’d thought I could evade fate, could outrun a world of blood, but had inadvertently dragged innocents into that world. Could I live with that? I wasn’t sure.
touched her everywhere made me want to tear everything down. She was supposed to be mine. Mine alone.
“He touched the wrong girl. He died for touching what wasn’t his to touch.”
“I will take you to Chicago, but I won’t leave your side, Gianna. I won’t give you the chance to run from me again.”
“Let’s go. It’s not like the whore deserves a big welcome.” Aria gasped. I stiffened but managed not to show my shock. I didn’t give a damn what Stan thought of me. But Matteo was the fastest to react. He pulled a knife and hurtled it at Stan who cried out when the blade nicked his ear.
If she liked to play with fire, fine. I didn’t mind getting burned. I’d walk through flames for her.
Nobody had ever looked at me like that, like I was the only source of water in a time of drought.
he pulled her against him and fucking kissed her while groping her breast. My blood boiling, I stormed toward them, pulled my knife, shoved Bardoni away from Gianna and slammed my blade into the soft spot below his chin, piercing his fucking brain. Gianna gasped and stumbled back against the wall, her eyes darting from my knife to my face. “Fuck,” I muttered. I chanced a quick glance around, then dragged Bardoni’s body toward his office, leaving my knife in his chin so blood didn’t shoot out. “You killed him,” Gianna whispered harshly. “He shouldn’t have touched you.”
“We are going to make it look like I didn’t kill him.” “Your knife is in his head.”
Love is when you feel safe in someone’s arms, when he’s the first thing you want to see in the morning, love is surrendering. You risk getting hurt but you don’t care. You are willing to give someone the power to break your heart. Love means seeing someone at their worst and still seeing the good in them, love means someone is perfect for you despite their imperfections.”
“I guess then that means I don’t care enough. Because letting you go? That’s the one thing I’ll never do.”
I didn’t say anything, only stared at the man I loved.
The selfish bitch wants freedom.” I stalked toward him, getting right in his face. “Don’t call her a bitch.”
“You’re not going to give her up, are you?” Luca said in a resigned tone. “No.”
I wasn’t better than Luca. But I was a hunter and sometimes a chase was useless, sometimes you had to wait for the prey to come to you. I wasn’t a patient hunter, but this time I would try.
I love you, Matteo. I don’t care what that makes me. I don’t care what other people think about me, about us. I don’t even care what Aria and Luca think. All I care about is us.” I kissed her again. I’d never get enough of tasting her. “I love you, Gianna. I’ve fucking loved you for a long time.”
“Yes. I love him, the bad and the good,”
It had taken a long time but I realized I could feel free, be free, even when I was bound to Matteo.
