Coexisting concurrent service versions for a short period of time can make perfect sense, especially when you’re doing things like blue/green deployments or canary releases (we’ll be discussing these patterns more in Chapter 7). In these situations, we may be coexisting versions only for a few minutes or perhaps hours, and normally will have only two different versions of the service present at the same time.
