One of the real problems with correlation IDs is that you often don’t know you need one until after you already have a problem that could be diagnosed only if you had the ID at the beginning! This is especially problematic, as retrofitting correlation IDs in is very difficult; you need to handle them in a standardized way to be able to easily reconsititute call chains.
