I’m staring at her, filled with a strange mix of sadness and jealousy. She had all that? I’m sad for her, but I can’t help but feel a little bit sad for myself, too. I want that. She lost it, but at least she had it.
“That one’s kind of a depressing playlist. I listen to it when I need a good cry. But don’t worry, I’m not about to off myself or anything.”
If he asks, I’ll tell him everything. The words are right there. They just need a little nudge, the tiniest bit of permission.
“But now, here you are, and somehow, in finding you, I think I’ve found myself.”
