“Would you sit your dramatic ass down.” He hissed through clenched teeth. “I am not cheating on my wife. I would rather skin myself alive than break her heart like that. I see your dramatics came from your grandfather too.”
“I should knock you in yo’ shit for thinking I’d cheat on my woman and then come to you about it.”
“I should have bet Pops that I didn’t need him or Ma’s help because he gave me thirty days to find someone on my own. Who knew it would only take a few hours?” “God.” I chuckled. “Yeah. This is only by His divine intervention.”
I found her hovering near Pastor King as her family talked to him and First Lady Joy. I always felt like their names were made up but kept the comment to myself so my mama wouldn’t send me on an eternal vacation.

“You will never fit into his world like I do. It’s clear to everyone here that you’re cosplaying, and whatever you’re doing won’t last. When it’s all said and done, Kairo will come back where he belongs.” “That’s a motherfuckin’ lie.” Camille and I jumped because we hadn’t heard the door. “If God Himself came down here and told me that the only way I’d get into Heaven was to mess with you again, I’d choose Hell. You in here trying to break down a woman who did nothing to you, but feel like I’d want you?” He scoffed. “Come on, baby girl. Your five minutes been up.” He stuck his hand out for me

“No secrets. As your wife, she’ll be privy to everything going on. You’ll need that anchor, . . . a place to go when the days get too long and you need somewhere to unpack. That’s something only your wife can do.”
