Guyanese,
With tight eyes, straight white teeth, a smooth complexion the color of wet sand, thick ebony hair that took a wave in its natural state,
Not only in height, but his build was massive. He lifted, had to. His arms appeared the size of her thighs and were inked up completely all on his nutmeg tone.
I’m not the nigga that gets the girl everybody wants and forgets she’s the girl that everybody wants. Trust me… I know what I have.”
“You gonna throw my paper heart in the trash?”
“Give it to me and find out,”
He held his hands out and she realized that he was giving it to her in a symbolic manner. It was a cute gesture; Neeka cupped her hands like she was taking it. Then she opened her clutch purse and pretended to place it in there
“I’m not banking on anything. I’m making that happen. There’s a difference.” He shot her a wink and Neeka looked off, turned her attention out of the window in thought.
“To the fucking moon…amongst the stars, where you belong.”
She would be his wife when she was ready for that, they would grow old together, he would die first, and she would die a day later.
“I got into you, ma. That’s the spirit of D Rock invoking you… be crazy with me.”
D Rock was definitely right… the spirit of him had invoked her. She was possessive and she was his possession. And she was now possessed.
“That’s all that matters,” Denny whispered to me deeply. “I don’t care if it takes sixteen hours to get you to happy… I’m gonna always get you there, baby.”
My man didn’t talk to me. He fed me scriptures.
A long time ago Denny had told me he needed me like he needed oxygen. I was that vital to his existence. It stuck with me so much that I often liked to bring it up just to hear him say it again. It warmed me, made me feel special each time. To have a man love you like that, you felt like you could do anything. I often felt like I could fly.
“I’m telling you,” Monie insisted with a cautioning frown like I was an alien. “Y’all the minority. What, y’all been together five years? And y’all ain’t tired of all that fucking yet? That’s crazy… I think y’all like obsessed with each other or something. Shit’s not normal.”
She was not to be fucked with.
I know it’s an adjustment but all I ask is that you trust when I tell you to do something or not to, it’s in your best interest. You do that and respect the man that I am, accept it and recognize it comes with some challenges, then I’ll change your entire life, Neeka. I swear to God. I’ll rob this whole earth of all good and bring it to you.”
“Neeka, people put diamonds under magnifying glasses because they can’t find flaws without ‘em.
“It’s… It’s… The safe combination.”
“I love you to death, Denny Graham.” “Pow,” he whispered back. Gunshot. Death. Ditto.
He didn’t like them at all and anything he didn’t like he was accustomed to doing something about it, more often than not, eliminating the problem.
the person you really are inside somehow manages to bleed through the cracks.
“Fucking oxygen... You do know that right?”
“Baby, the only thing I have to get back to is you… in here…,”
That’s how angry, disordered, sick, pathetic, devoted, and deranged she had him.
“You need to be concerned with Denny’s intentions… Because about a half hour ago, his intentions were to leave your silly-ass here and take off with me.
“Meaning… if you met him last week and you’re already in his bed tonight, by next week I’m sure you’ll just be another name added to the roster of bed warmers… until he gets who he really wants back in it-”
“I’m barely surviving out here,” he told her, pressing his forehead to hers.
“Acceptance is the first step to overcoming consequences of misfortune.”
“I ripped my heart outta my chest and I’m standing here with the shit just waiting! What kinda shit is this? I ain’t never been this fucking weak in my life!”
“No! Don’t pull that baby shit on me, Neeka. I’m not D Rock and it’s not fucking rocket science! Either you wanna be with him or you don’t! But that… that what you just saw, is what the fuck happens when you play with a nigga like D Rock’s emotions. This ain’t fucking high school, he’s a grown fucking man, and I don’t wanna see your simple-ass get hurt. So you need to, like I said, get it the fuck together!”
“Make a fucking decision. Grow up.”
“It fits,” Neeka whispered excitedly. “Of course it does… it’s yours.”
You can’t talk that gangsta shit and not be prepared to face the repercussions for it.
“…but if you kill whatever is growing inside of you… which is mine, a part of me. I’m sure all of that love would vanish. And I will seriously hurt you… I will most likely murder you.”
he’s crazy… he’s the man in the streets. He don’t take no shit and it sends electricity through you, puts you on fire from the inside. Especially to have a man like that go soft for you.”
psychosis, blended of a mild form of schizophrenia and bipolar type 1 disease. He has also been declared at his adult screening as a sociopath. And hell, at one time they were even monitoring him for Dissociative Identity Disorder or more known as uh, split personalities,”
“They were telling him to harm us… Denny and myself. So he… he did the brave thing… like a warrior. He sacrificed his life for his family.”
