I guess the deeper in love we fall the scarier the thought of that love leaving us becomes. I was absolutely terrified of losing Denny. I was nauseated at the thought of someone even getting a portion of what he gave to me. My heart would stop beating if he made another woman feel how I felt.

I doubt if the D Rock that kissed Neeki’s fingertips one by one on days when she’d come in and ask how he liked her manicure, was the same D Rock that would let her know he’d just killed a man or five.
“You still got my heart in your purse?” He asked and caused her to giggle. “Upstairs in my closet.” “Better make sure ya roommate don’t get it,” he joked and she punched him in the arm, slight jealousy going through her.
I swear to God. I’ll rob this whole earth of all good and bring it to you.”
“Why does it always rain on wedding days?” I wondered aloud looking up at the dark clouds, as the driver held the door for us and I slid inside the silver Maybach. “They say the best unions are made amongst the greatest storms. So maybe it’ll be a fucking hurricane or something on our wedding day,”
“I love you to death, Denny Graham.” “Pow,” he whispered back. Gunshot. Death. Ditto.
