“Roland,” I said sweetly, leaning back to whisper in his ear. “If you try any more shit, I am literally going to light you on fire.”
Everyone was far enough away not to hear as I leaned down and whispered, “It isn’t the first life I’ve taken for you. I don’t expect it to be the last.”

Calm the flames.
“We will need to come together if there is any chance of eliminating this threat.”

“Cruel siren,”
“My girl is a thousand times sweeter, kinder, and prettier than all of you. Better in every way, actually,” he said simply, the girls’ faces dropping. “So, no. I'm not interested.”
“Nothing could’ve made me not love her.”
I washed all the blood, dirt, and sweat off of my body, crying silently in the shower as I recalled the faces of all the people I had killed. I knew they were trying to slaughter me, slaughter innocents. But I couldn't help but think of who they may have been outside of the battlefield. They had families. Friends. Perhaps even lovers or children. And I took them from this world. What gave any of us the right?
“We believed Mages to be responsible for both her and my mother's deaths. I let that information destroy me. Let the pain turn me into someone I didn’t recognize. Someone I hated.” I took in a shaky breath. I had never spoken about this to anyone. “I did her a disservice by becoming the man I am today. Don’t let it happen to you.”
“For all the time I knew of Silas La'Rune, I despised him. I saw him as an evil, murderous monster who wanted nothing more than to eliminate our kind. But now that I have experienced what he has, now that I have felt what it's like to have the love of your life ripped away, I understand why he became the man he did. And I forgive him for it.”
She was a beautiful whirlwind. A force to be reckoned with. She was everything I dreamed of and more. A spitfire, a siren.

Gods…am I a whore?
“Look at how beautiful you are,” he whispered, stroking my cheek lovingly. “You take us both so well.”
“There is so much ugliness in this world. I'm finding it difficult to feel hope anymore.”
“I HATE YOU!” she screamed, and I recoiled as tears continued to flow down her beautiful face. Her voice shook as she uttered, “I hate you. I hate how badly I crave you. I hate that I will always compare every lover to you and come up short-handed. Every. Single. Time.”
“I haven’t known happiness since you left my life, Lena. I haven’t known satisfaction since that last night you were in my bed. How can’t you comprehend how desperately I desire you? How, after all these years, am I still in love with you?!”
He slowed down, cupping my face and looking into my eyes. “You are breathtaking,” he marveled, his sweetness warming me. “You are exquisite.” He nipped at my ear, kissing my pointed cartilage, and tears began forming in my eyes.
“You consume all of me, Lena. You are my waking thought and the final picture I see before I sleep. You are a siren that haunts my dreams. It's been that way since the moment I met you.” I sighed in defeat. “There’s not a damn second you aren’t on my mind.”
“You represent all that I could ever desire…and all I can never have.” My voice cracked as I whispered, “You have destroyed me…and I resent you for it.”
I was happy everyone felt comfortable showing their true selves now, at least here.
I smiled at her. She was wearing the silver hair rings I purchased for her. They looked badass and beautiful at the same time wrapped around her braids.
My peace of mind perished the moment I met you. You've branded my soul, marking it as yours, even after all this time.”
“Nevertheless,” I murmured, “even with all the pain that has come with loving you, I would never choose to forget the beauty of the moments we shared. Because for me, those moments with you are the only beautiful memories I have.”
“It's so awkward watching silent conversations,” Roland mumbled to Hendry.
“My love for you is limitless, Silas. Unchanging, no matter what you’ve done.
“I will love every version of you, my Soul-Tie,” I whispered.
“Lena,” he murmured, tears falling down his cheeks as his golden eyes fixated on me. “Stop him…you're the only one who can.” He swallowed. “You will not give up,” he choked. “Silas,” I shook my head rapidly. “Please…” I cried. “You will not break.”
“I am a God,” I whispered. “I am your daughter. The Goddess of Purification.” “That is right, my dear.” The God of Vengeance's smile grew proud. “And you shall bow to no one.”
