Xay opened his GRID interface to catch up on messages as well. The “Global” in Global Real-Time Information Display wasn’t just for show—GRID worked just about everywhere. But he had silenced his notifications while they were away.

“Xavyer X!” Gideon’s wheezily voice cut through the GastroHub, interrupting her. “I challenge you for your placement!” He stomped toward them with his usual self-importance. His sidekick, Xander, followed close on his heels. “Ugh. This jackass,” Xay groaned, hurrying to finish his sandwich. “You can’t run from me this time!” Gideon boomed, gesturing to the now-silent audience. “Everyone will know you’re a coward—too weak to stand against me!” “I know it was you who sabotaged my room and planted that disgusting,” he lowered his voice, “sex doll for the instructors to find.” Lexi and Tyra immediately broke out in laughter, while Kimi and Ezra hid heavy giggles behind their hands. Peanut, Bev, Juniper, and Winnie looked just as confused as Xay was. “And I will have my revenge,” Gideon seethed. “I will reclaim everything you stole from me!“

All because of you.” Virgil steadied himself and activated Mind Sever, one of his most devastating techniques. Mind Sever - Perform a mental lobotomy with psychic force. It was an evolved form of Mind Spike, but far more potent, designed to sever cognitive function and leave only a drooling husk behind. It struck. But the old woman didn’t even flinch. She just kept walking. Virgil’s mind went blank. He had no idea what he was looking at. She had no aura. No pressure.
