Callie Rae (trying to follow God)
My breath catches in my throat as I take in her face, deep bronze and heart-shaped, framed by her hair, which looks like a jet-black curtain of ink spilling around her. Her eyes are a vivid green that do funny things to my body. A few noodles from the—soup, is it?—stick to one side of her hair, yet she still might very well be the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.
“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” –Galatians 5:16

“He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” –Matthew 17:20

Sebastian Black, working man. And not just any job. She wants you to express anal glands. Why is it again you’re so obsessed with her?
“Okay…but it kinda sounds like you’re expecting me to pretend I don’t find you attractive. And I’m sorry, but that’s not going to happen. We can keep things professional, but I think you’re beautiful, and also really distracting.”
“You always look nice, Romilly. No… nice isn’t the right word. Beautiful might be, but even that seems insignificant.”
“How can you say that to me?” He shrugs. “It would have taken more effort not to say it.”
Kissing her feels like breathing for the first time. And now that I’ve done it, I fear it’s become essential to my survival.
