Blake once again defends the mixed nature of the church by trying to prove that the New Testament names as believers, saints, disciples, and Christians people who are not regenerated. For example, he considers that the five thousand men converted at Pentecost belonged to the visible church and yet, although they all professed the faith, they were not all regenerated. Simon the magician would be an example of one of these believers who were not saved.
