I may have lost my wife, but I didn’t lose my vision. Mia Landry is beautiful. And off-limits. And luckily for both of us, I have no plans on ever getting involved with anyone else again.
“When I close my eyes and think of her, it feels like the memories are fading away. The images of her aren’t as clear as they once were.” Carson lets out a soft breath. “I think that’s normal,” he says gently.
“But why?” she asks. “Why would it matter if someone else kissed me?” I drop my hand from hers, sliding it up her arm and along the base of her neck, curling my fingers around her spine. “Because it should have been me.”
“Tella told me you like chocolate chip cookies,” Caleb says, his voice low as he meets me halfway. His fingers trail along the side of my face as he brushes my hair away. “Happy birthday, pup.”
He’s consuming me, piece by piece, inch by inch and I’m so lost in him. At this point, there’s no question about it—if this is what it’s like with him, I never want to be found.
