Sometimes, I feel bad about ruining the lives of men. Sometimes, I catch glimpses of a different version and see past the carefully crafted one meant to pull unsuspecting people into his web.
“If you’re trying to make me feel bad about conning him out of two hundred bucks, you’ve got the wrong woman, babe. I don’t feel bad for a man who is clearly married and hitting on women at a bar. And I definitely don’t let random assholes like you make me feel bad about any decisions I make in my life.”
“You know, I think in an alternate universe, we could be friends. You with all that sass, absolutely no filter, and—” I cut him off before he can continue. “And you with your dry personality and clear obsession with me?”
“Put her other drinks on here. Keep the previous payment as a tip. And a fresh glass, if she wants,” Rowan says.
“How’s that whiskey you hate so much taste now that it’s on my tongue?”
“You have to prove yourself worthy before you fuck me, Mr.—” I pause, realizing I don’t actually know his last name. “Fisher,” he says, then slides a finger into my wet pussy. “But you can call out Rowan when you come.”
“That was just the start, Josie.” His hand lifts, wet fingers moving to my lips as I stare at him with lust and need. “Clean these.”
The first time I met Josie, I was enamored. The second time, I was annoyed. This is the twenty-second time I’ve bumped into her. Each time I left feeling slightly different, but this is the first time I’m leaving with blue balls.
I’ve never been on my knees for a woman, but my fucking god, the way she looks down at me like she knows she could own me if she asked nicely makes my already hard cock throb.
“If you want me bad enough…a big, powerful man like you…you’ll find me.”
“Except there’s this brunette who I can’t stop thinking about, and every time I’m at work, all I can think about is spending more time with her.”
“Is that what you want, baby?” I rasp, low and gravelly. “You want me to fuck your face and pull your hair?”
“It’s an absolute honor to taste myself on your tongue, Josie. To know how it got there, that you trusted me enough to give me that? It means everything to me.”
“If I have my way, that ratio will continue to be wildly uneven, Josie. Once I get you naked beneath me, you’re going to come so many fucking times you’ll lose count.”
“The first one will be a freebie, just for being my good girl,” he says, and even though I’m confused and stuck on the first one, I nod, pleading. “Some goodwill to remind you that, regardless of everything, I trust you. I believe you. I’m going to take care of you.”
“So fucking pretty, so fucking perfect. So fucking mine,”
“Fuck, Josie. You can’t do this to me. I have so much shit to do, and instead I’m bending you over my chair and fucking you.”
“Then make me come, and you can go back to going your boring big boy job,” I demand. “You’re such a fucking little brat, aren’t you?”
“I’m absolutely wild for you, Josephine Montgomery,”
“The truth is, you can flirt and flaunt, and you can make every man in the room wonder what it would be like to have you as their own, but I’m the only one who gets to know that. I’m the only one who knows what you’re like when that mask is pulled off, who knows what you sound like when I fill you.” A shallow breath leaves my lips, and a small smile paints his. “I’m the only one who knows the places to kiss to make you moan. That alone is enough for me. You think I’m not okay with that? Having all of you when everyone else only gets hints and scraps, when they get teased but never given more?

“Please. I’m dying of boredom.” “He doesn’t seem to have much personality,” Rowan agrees, and I smile behind my hand. “Unlike you?” “I think you know damn well how much personality I have,” Rowan says low. Heat runs through me in response. “Ugh, gross, you two,” Rory says. “I’m on the line.”
“That’s because I’m completely obsessed with you, and even though I couldn’t admit it to even myself until recently, I’ve been obsessed with you for some time. If I had paid attention for just a single moment, I would have realized the world was throwing me a million chances to find my person finally.”
“You bumped into me twenty-two times, but I only get twenty-one dates?” He smiles wide. “The twenty-second time I bumped into you was a date. We drank, we talked, I dragged you into an office and made you come. It was our first date, even.” My jaw drops and my eyes widen. He laughs at the shock on my face before his head dips, pressing a kiss to my neck. “That’s exactly how you would have wanted that date to go, and you know it.”
“How do you remember all of this?” I ask after he shows me each table. He shrugs, a light blush on his cheeks. “I can’t seem to forget a single detail about you, Josie, no matter how hard I’ve tried.”
“I…” Rowan starts, taking everything in, and for a moment, I wonder if he’s going into shock. “I know, I know. It’s a lot, getting saved by a five-four hottie in heels and all, but I am going to need you to snap out of it.”
