when he sighs into my neck, that seals my fate. I never want to leave.
“I might be way out of line with this, but you’re my Swedish hockey player of the year.” I open the box, pulling out a silver hockey puck. Turning it over, I run my fingers over the shaky engraving that Luke made of a maple leaf and my initials.
It’s of him in his AHL uniform, helmet off, hair damp with sweat, and so damn attractive with his usual shy smile that never fails to make my heart clench.
And when he leans his head against my shoulder, still holding my hand, I melt the rest of the way. I’m so gone for Luke, and I’ve never been so damn happy to lose a fight.
“Oh yeah, absolutely,” I say. “This is amazing. You’re amazing, and—” The words slip out before I can stop them. “I love you.” I freeze up, and Luke gives me another glowing, heart-stopping smile. “I love you too, you goof.” He hugs me, and my chest swells while my stomach plays jump rope with the rest of my insides.
“There’s a time and a place for you to suck my soul out, and that isn’t right before you fuck me into next week.”
And when he rests on my shoulder and slips his hand into mine, I can only agree.
