The first step to knowing God’s plan for our lives is the commitment to see ourselves as we really are.
Significance is not possible unless what we do contributes to the welfare of others.
I believe every man should prepare a Written Life Purpose Statement that encompasses what he discovers as God’s personal earthly purpose for his life.
Colossians 3:21 confirms that this is a problem by its inclusion in the Bible as one of very few instructions given only to fathers: “Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.”
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved — you and your household” (Acts 16:31, italics added).
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up” (Ecclesiastes 4:9 – 10).
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity”
“Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food.
“One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.”
‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only’ ” (Matthew 4:10).
The third principle of effective decision making is to always worship God and serve Him only in your decisions.
“cannot serve both God and money”
We can choose our way, but we cannot choose the result. Forgiveness, yes. But every decision has its consequences. We really are the sum of our decisions.
is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” (Philippians 2:13).
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:36 – 37).
“Everybody thinks of changing humanity, and nobody thinks of changing himself.”
1. To love God 2. To love others 3. To rest 4. To work 5. To do good works
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15 – 17
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well. Ecclesiastes 11:6
God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.
For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted” (Luke 18:14).
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Jesus, Matthew 14:27
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret — it leads only to evil.
Ecclesiastes 7:9 urges us, “Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.” In
“Fools give vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end”
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined — and everyone undergoes discipline — then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Hebrews 12:7 – 8
“Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases; for they will take nothing with them when they die” (Psalm 49:16 – 17).
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
“Whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
