As a pastor, he had made the choice to live a life of faith driven by a relationship to Jesus. He believed that all of his life was a gift and it did not unfold by accident, chance, or happenstance. Life was a story that unfolded, not by luck, but by divine providence. He understood that many didn’t believe this or live their lives this way, and this explained a great deal of the struggle that many people spent the bulk of their days trying to unravel. It was this trust, this belief that God was in charge, that gave Hawk the confidence to live life, embrace life, and face it as an amazing

“All of our lives are a story. The pages are packed with the memories we collect over a lifetime.”
“No matter how long or short that lifetime might be. And the memories we create, they are gifts we leave behind when we are gone.
They become part of our legacy, and our stories continue in the lives of those we love, those who travel our journey with us, and those who will hear our stories in the days ahead. The challenge for all of us is to make sure that each day the story of our l...

Strive for perfection, settle for excellence, and people will always remember what you are trying to say to them.”
Walt had said, “People often ask me if I know the secret of success and if I could tell others how to make their dreams come true. My answer is, you do it by working.” Hard work was the essential ingredient in making dreams come true and finding success.
“The secret to making magic happen is doing the hard work so well that it makes it look easy.”
Being an agent of change wasn’t easy. If it was, everyone would embrace it. But people of faith had to step in and step up when things were tough because others need them to do so.
That is what greatness is… doing what is best for everyone else. It is being a servant, it is putting the needs and what is best for others in front of your own.
Forgiveness is really not as much about the one you are forgiving as it is about you being able to move forward. If you can’t forgive, a piece of you dies inside, and you will never live the life you were created to live. The inability to forgive others robs you of the joy of living each day as a gift.
Hawk had confessed that he had argued with God and told God that he should have more time to spend with Kate. But God reminded Hawk that Kate was now with God, in his presence. If she had a choice, she would not come back because she was in the presence of her Savior, Jesus. So while he had been arguing that God had not been fair, or had not been good, or had not been kind…God had told him to be quiet and pay attention. God was being more than fair, more than good, and more than kind—because Kate was now with him.
She was better than she had ever been. There was no more pain, no more struggling, and no more suffering. God had told Hawk to quit making it about himself and start honoring Kate.
He shared that how we live our lives is important and that each day is a gift. That precious gift is not to be squandered by whining, griping, complaining, or holding on to hard feelings of hurt and anger.
“Yep, you don’t need to find closure. You can’t just close the book when you love someone and instantly move on. You have to quit trying to find closure and instead try to find enclosure. You have to find the place to keep those memories and feelings. From time to time, you have to open them up, remember, and experience them all over again. You need those moments—they’re a part of who you are, and they can make you better. Then you can enclose them…move forward and follow.”
