I agonizingly waited to catch one more glimpse of my love. My everything. My Lukyan. It had been three hours, seventeen minutes, and forty-three seconds since I’d last laid eyes on him, and I had been suffering for every millisecond of it.
He’d done so well! Strutting down that runway as if he owned it, Lukyan even blew a kiss into the crowd, and I knew—I just knew—he’d meant it for me. It was mine. He was mine.
Because we were connected in a way no one else could understand. We were soulmates. And we would be together. Or die together.
I shouldn’t have been as excited as I was at that prospect…but fuck, I was. I was yet to meet anyone who matched my crazy, but that woman…My stalker… Oh, she matched it to a tee, and it was fucking exhilarating.
Regardless of all that, I couldn’t deny the fact that it hurt. It hurt because I knew that if it were Nikolai in my place, he wouldn’t have been saying those things.
He trusted Nikolai. Had faith in Nikolai. Believed in Nikolai. Me? I was just the idiot class clown of the Bratva. I knew that was what they all thought of me. They made no attempt to hide it. And yes, in part, I was. But that wasn’t all I was.
He told me he loved my light. Loved my spirit. Loved how I was unashamed to be myself. It went in one ear and out the other.
“Sir, sit down. Please. You’re in no condition—” “I’m fine,” Father barked, taking a step forward. “Sit. Down,” Autumn ordered, voice like ice. Father hesitated, freezing on the spot. He licked his lips, and for the first time in my life, I saw nervousness skate across his features. “Autumn—” She did nothing but narrow her eyes in warning. Father collapsed back into his chair with an angry growl. “You can grumble all you want, but your ass better not leave that chair again until the doctor is finished.”
Unknown: What’s wrong, my love? You look sad. I stiffened. It’s her. Excitement soared through me—so much so that it took all of my willpower to keep my body from shaking.
The question was…where was the camera? My phone buzzed with another text message. Unknown: A little to the left. I turned my head in that direction. Unknown: A little more. Unknown: Up a smidgen. My eyes locked on a light fixture high on the far wall. Unknown: Hi, my love.
“Are you afraid she’ll kidnap me?” I joked. “Yes,” he responded with a straight face. A sliver of excitement cut through me at the mere idea of it. I highly doubted she would do something like that, though. Or that she would even be capable of pulling something like that off. She was crazy, but I didn’t think she was that crazy. Still, the idea was…tantalizing. I walked back toward the exit with a smirk dancing on my lips. “If she did, I’m pretty sure I would like it.” “That’s what we’re afraid of!” someone yelled as I bolted from the kitchen.
That light he always had in his eyes had dimmed just the slightest bit, and I wanted to murder them all.
No one hurt my Lukyan and lived to talk about it.
Given the events of today, I am willing to forgo that transgression, my love. But never again. You know who I am. I am yours, and you are mine. Until death do us part.
he looked up at nothing in particular. “You’ve captured my attention again, moya malen’kaya ten’, my little shadow. I can’t wait to see what else you’ll do.”
In a last-ditch effort, I quickly stretched forward and tickled the bottom of his foot.
Moya malen’kaya ten’. My little shadow.
Her hands gripped the sides of my face, and she turned my head to look at her. She slowly removed her veil. My heart stopped. Hovering over me was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my life. Angelic, soft, rounded features. Flawless skin. High, arched eyebrows. Smile as radiant as the sun. Mesmerizing honey-colored eyes full of light and spark. Perfect. She was perfect.
She smiled, and it was full of triumph. “Hi, my love.” Oh, fuck. I blacked out.
I had no idea who that man was, but I knew he was mine.
“You’re her, aren’t you? The woman who’s been stalking me.” He attempted to get free of his restraints again. “Let me go. Now.” I internally shivered. Oh, that hard, dominating voice. How I would love to turn it around and have it laced with submission. All in good time. “I would love to, but I have a feeling if I did, you’d run.”
“I wouldn’t run,” Lukyan said, watching me closely, his eyes clear and utterly focused. “I’d kill you.”
“I want you. I’ve done all of this”—I spread my arms out wide—“for you. So we can finally be together. We’re soulmates. I felt it the moment I laid eyes on you. That unbreakable connection. We’re meant to be together, and nothing and no one will stop us. Our hearts are intertwined. Bound together by forces beyond our control. It’s destiny. Don’t you see? Fate.” He stared at me, mouth slightly agape in what I could only describe as befuddlement. “Oh. You’re like, insane insane.” “I prefer the term mentally spicy
“Call it what you want. Crazy is crazy.”
I gave him a bright, dazzling smile. “Good boy.” Something different flashed across his face. Something I couldn’t yet decipher. “I know how much you love your family. I’ve been watching you for a long time, my love—” “Because that’s not at all creepy,” he muttered under his breath. “Creepy or romantic?” He stared me dead in the eyes. “Creepy.” “Orrrrrr?” “Will you just tell me what the hell you’re talking about?!” “Okay, okay, jeez. You know, you were a lot more playful all the times I watched you.”
“How could you possibly know all of this?” I shrugged absently, the deviousness of my own mind making me smirk. “Because I became her best friend and convinced her to run away with her bodyguard.” His eyes widened in shock. “You what?”
I can see why you guys are trying to kill him.” Lukyan stiffened. “How the fuck do you know about that?” he asked, aghast.
Jesus Chirst. She was goddamn fucking crazy. And if my rock-hard cock was anything to go by, I liked it a little too much.
Murder turned me on. Fucking sue me.
“While I love the enthusiasm, my love, you’re going to have to learn to follow orders if you want more.”
“Please don’t stop, Huntress. Please. I’ll be a good boy. I’ll do whatever the fuck you want. Just please, don’t stop touching me.”
“On your knees before your Huntress, baby.” I dropped, zero hesitation in my movements. Lyla’s face lit up in a pleased, warm smile, and I knew right in that moment I would do anything to please her. That I wanted to please her. Have her own me. Command me.
“I would still love you if you were a worm.”
Father nodded, face solemn. He gripped the side of my face and brought his forehead to rest against mine. “You’re not too much,” he whispered. “You’re perfect, just the way you are. Remember that.”
My soul had been deprived of Lukyan’s light for ninety-three days, seventeen hours, twenty-seven minutes, and forty-one seconds,
“Different how?” “Just…different. He spends every waking moment searching for you. He cracks jokes, but his heart isn’t in it. His light is gone, and I have a feeling it’s here with you.”
I undressed slowly. Seductively. Giving her plenty of time to admire me and enjoy the show because…only the best for my girl.
Oh man. She’s absolutely fucking insane. I’m such a goner.
